Let \(f\) be a mapping of a topological space \((C, \tau)\) into itself. It is called sequentially continuous if it maps convergent sequences to convergent sequences. A sequence \((x_n)\) in \(C\) is called a \(\tau\)-approximate fixed point sequence for \(f\) if \((x_n) - f(x_n) @>{\tau}>> 0,\) as \(n \to \infty.\) The space \((C, \tau)\) has the \(\tau\)-approximate fixed point property (\(\tau\)-afp property) if every sequentially continuous mapping \(f : (C, \tau) \to (C, \tau)\) has a \(\tau\)-approximate fixed point sequence. The main result of the paper is as follows. Let \(C\) be a (weakly) compact convex subset of a Hausdorff locally convex space \((X, \tau)\) whose dual is weak*-separable. Then \(C\) has the (weak)\(\tau\)-afp property. Applications are made to (i) weak-afp for demicontinuous self-maps of weakly compact subsets of Banach spaces, and (ii) the existence of limiting-weak solutions for differential equations in reflexive Banach spaces.
