Structure theorems for certain Gorenstein ideals (Q841533)

Let \(A\) be an Artinian local ring with maximal ideal \(\mathfrak m\) and residue field \(k\). We say that \(A\) is stretched (resp.\ almost stretched) if \(\mathfrak m^2\) is principal (resp.\ generated by two elements). \textit{J. D. Sally} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 20, 19--26 (1979; Zbl 0402.13018)] determined defining ideals of the stretched Gorenstein rings. In the present paper, the authors determined the defining ideal of any stretched ring and ones of almost stretched Gorenstein rings if \(k\) is stable under square root.
