Let \(A\) be a noetherian local ring, \({\hat A}\) its completion and \(G_0(A)\) the Grothendieck group of finitely generated modules. The canonical map \(\phi:G_0(A)\rightarrow G_0({\hat A})\) is usually not injective as shows some examples of Hochster or Dao, but \({\mathbb Q}\otimes_{\mathbb Z}\phi\) is injective in these cases. Here it is given an example when \({\mathbb Q}\otimes_{\mathbb Z}\phi\) is not injective.
