Let \({\mathcal H}\) and \({\mathcal J}\) be complex Hilbert spaces and let \({\mathcal L}(\mathcal H)\) (resp., \({\mathcal L}(\mathcal J)\)) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on \({\mathcal H}\) (resp., \({\mathcal J}\)). Let \(D\) be a strictly pseudoconvex domain in \(\mathbb{C}^m\) with \(C^2\) boundary \(\partial D\). A subnormal \(m\)-tuple \(T\in{\mathcal L}(\mathcal H)^m\) is said to be a \textit{\(\partial D\)-isometry} if the spectral measure of its minimal normal extension is supported on \(\partial D\). The author proves that if \(T\in{\mathcal L}(\mathcal H)^m\) and \(S\in{\mathcal L}(\mathcal J)^m\) are two \(\partial D\)-isometries whose Taylor spectra are contained in a particular superdomain \(\Omega\) of \(D\), then every bounded linear transformation \(X:{\mathcal H}\to{\mathcal J} \) intertwining \(T\) and \(S\) extends to an intertwining operator \(\widetilde{X}\) of the minimal normal extensions of \(S\) and \(T\) with \(\|X\|=\|\widetilde{X}\|\). He also obtains a function-theoretic characterization of those subnormal tuples whose Taylor spectra are contained in \(\Omega\) and that are quasisimilar to a particular fixed \(\partial D\)-isometry. The proofs involve some classical approximation theorems from the theory of several complex variables and the abstract generalization of the inner function problem.
