New differential properties of sup-type functions (Q844057)

The authors investigate the differential properties of sup-type function \(\psi= \sup\{\phi(x,y): y\in Y\}\), where \(Y\) is a nonempty set in \(\mathbb{R}^m\) and \(\phi:\mathbb{R}^m\times Y\to \mathbb{R}\). Section 2 contains some basic notation and preliminary results. In Section 3 new characterizations of the directional derivative, subderivative, and subdifferential of sup-type functions are presented. In Section 4 an estimate of the Lipschitz modulus for sup-type functions are given. Some conclusions are drawn in Section 5.
