Subnormal structure of non-stable unitary groups over rings. (Q847149)

Let \(R\) be a commutative ring with identity. The subnormal subgroups of \(\text{GL}_n(R)\) with \(n\geq 3\) are classified by \textit{L. N. Vaserstein} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 108, No. 2, 219-229 (1990; Zbl 0711.20030)]. The author obtains a similar result for unitary subgroups (with Witt index \(n\)) of \(\text{GL}_{2n}(R)\) where \(n\geq 4\). I believe that the condition on \(n\) can be relaxed to \(n\geq 3\).
