On the cohomology of free and twisted loop spaces (Q847153)

The main aim of this article is a thorough calculation of the cohomology rings and their unstable algebra structures over the Steenrod algebra of free and twisted loop spaces of certain classifying spaces of compact Lie groups, including some finite Chevalley groups. The main tool here is the Eilenberg-Moore spectral sequence. The main innovation in this article is the construction of a natural extension of the cohomology suspension to a free loop space of a given topological space induced by the evaluation map. This is then also extended to the more general case of twisted loop spaces, i.e. path spaces twisted by a given self-map of the underlying topological spaces.
