Exact sequences of fibrations of crossed complexes, homotopy classification of maps, and nonabelian extensions of groups (Q847572)

A CW complex~\(X\) has a fundamental crossed complex \(\Pi X_*\), an algebraic object analogous to a fundamental group, and a crossed complex~\(C\) has a classifying space \(BC\). For a CW complex~\(X\) and a crossed complex~\(C\) there is a bijection of homotopy classes \[ [\Pi X_*,C] \cong [X,BC]. \] In this paper, this bijection is related to fibrations of crossed complexes. The results apply to the homotopy classification of maps into \(n\)-aspherical spaces and to nonabelian group extensions.
