If \(X\) is a convex compact subset of a real locally convex Hausdorff space, then \(B\subseteq X\) is said to be a \textsl{boundary of X} if each real-valued affine continuous function on \(X\) attains its maximum on \(X\) at some point of \(B\); an example of a boundary is the set ext\(\,X\) of extreme points of \(X\). A question attributed to A. V. Arhangel'skii is whether for such \(X\), \(w(X)=w(\text{ext}\, X)=nw(\text{ext}\,X)\). In this paper it is shown that if \(B\) is a boundary of \(X\), then \(w(X)= w(B)\) if either \(B\) is Lindelöf or \(X\) is a standard compact convex set (as defined by \textit{A. J. Ellis} and \textit{A. K. Roy} in [Invent. Math. 56, 101--108 (1980; Zbl 0433.46007)]) and \(B=\text{ext}\, X\).
