Let \((M,<;>)\) be an \((n+1)\)-dimensional Riemannian manifold, \(F\) a codimension one foliaton of \(M\), and \(\nabla\) the Levi-Civita connection of \((M,<:>)\). Let \(\Gamma(F)\) be the set of all vector fields tangent to \(F\). Consider the shape separator \(A: \Gamma(F)\to \Gamma(F)\), \(A(X)= -(\nabla_X N)^T\), \(X\in\Gamma(F)\), where \(N\) is a unit vector field orthogonal to \(F\), \(T\) denotes the orthogonal projection on the vector bundle tangent to \(F\), and \(R\) is the curvature tensor of \(M\). Assume that \(k_1(p),\dots, k_n(p)\) are the principal curvatures of \(A\). Then, associated to \(A\) there are algebraic invariants \(S_r(p)= \sigma_r(k_1(p),\dots, k_n(p))\), \(p\in M\), \(n= 1,2,\dots,n\), and \(\sigma_r\) are elementary symmetric function. The Newton transformations of \(A\) can be applied to the foliation \((M,F)\). The authors generalize some known integral formula for \(F\). The main results of this paper are contained in the following theorems: Theorem 1: If \(F\) is codimension one foliaton on a Riemannian manifold \((M,<:>)\) and \(N\) is a unit normal vector field \(F\), then \[ \text{div}(T_r\nabla_N N)= \langle\text{div}_F T_r,\nabla_N N\rangle- N(S_{n+1})+ S_1 S_{r+1}- (r+ 2)S_{r+2}+ T_{r_F}(R(N)T_r). \] Theorem 2: Let J\((M,F,<:>)\) be a foliated Riemannian manifold with a unit normal vector field \(N\), then \[ \text{div}(T_r\nabla_N N+ S_{r+1}N)= \langle\text{div}_F JT_r,\nabla_N N\rangle- (r+ 2)S_{r+2}+ T_{r_F}(R(N)T_r). \] The work contains examples, applications, and some consequences: the case of constant sectional curvature, totally umbilical foliations and foliations whose leaves have constant \(S_2\).
