In this note, the authors provide an example of a quasi-Stonean space \(X\) which is not Stonean with the property that every bounded linear operator from any Banach lattice into \(C(X)\) (all continuous real-valued functions on \(X\)) is regular, i.e., the difference of positive operators. The example requires assuming the existence of a measurable cardinal and answers a question of \textit{Yu.\,A.\thinspace Abramovich} and \textit{A.\,W.\thinspace Wickstead} [Q.\ J.\ Math., Oxf.\ II.\ Ser.\ 44, No.\,175, 257--270 (1993; Zbl 0991.47023)]. In general, a Banach lattice is called a BIR-space if it satisfies the condition of \(C(X)\) above.
