The paper is devoted to the different construction of Gysin maps for oriented cohomology theories. The notion of an oriented cohomology theory was introduced by Levine, Morel, Panin and Smirnov. Roughly speaking, orientation means that a cohomology theory is endowed with characteristic classes and satisfies projective bundle formula. In the papers by Panin and Smirnov it was shown that given an oriented theory one may construct transfer maps (push-forwards). The most difficult part in their construction was to show that the transfer map is well defined, i.e., doesn't depend on the choices. In the paper under review the author provides a different and more straightforward proof of this result in the case of closed embeddings.
