The authors obtain some existence criteria of three periodic positive solutions for a class of abstract integral equations. The existence criteria are based on the Leggett-Williams fixed point theorem [cf. \textit{D.J. Guo}, Nonlinear functional analysis, The Science and Technology Press in Shandong, China (1985)]. Using the existence results for abstract integral equations, the population models are also considered. The existence of one or two or three positive periodic solutions for functional differential equations have also been studied extensively by many authors [e.g. \textit{X. L. Liu, G. Zhang}, and \textit{S. S. Cheng}, Abstr. Appl. Anal. 10, 897--905 (2004; Zbl 1085.34546)].
