The authors investigate convergence issues of a Gauss-Newton optimization method for the non-linear least squares problem. The article begins by an overview of this problem and a summary of the properties of Gauss-Newton methods that are used for its optimization. The third section then proceeds to study the convergence properties of this method, under several conditions, for example, Lipschitz and weaker Lipschitz, and several interesting proofs are presented in a lot of detail, which relate to the calculation of the convergence ball and the uniqueness ball for the optimal solution. The article concludes with a list of useful references.
