The author generalizes results of Brooks, Saitô, and Wright on W\(^*\)-algebras to JBW\(^*\)-triples, thereby revealing some new properties of relatively weakly compact subsets in the predual of a JBW\(^*\)-triple. He goes on to specialize these results to JBW\(^*\)-algebras in which case they appear in a similar form to that given by the authors referred to above.
