Let \(A_b(E)\) denote the Banach algebra of all complex-valued bounded continuous functions on the closed unit ball \(B_E\) of a complex Banach space \(E\) that are holomorphic on the interior of \(B_E\) endowed with the sup-norm, and let \(A_u(E)\) be the closed subalgebra of \(A_b(E)\) of those functions which are uniformly continuous on \(B_E\). If \(E\) is finite-dimensional, then the Shilov boundary of \(A_b(E) = A_u(E)\) exists; however, in the case \(E\) is infinite-dimensional, the Shilov boundary of \(A_b(E)\) or \(A_u(E)\) does not always exist. In fact, \textit{J.\,Globevnik} [Math.\ Proc.\ Camb.\ Philos.\ Soc.\ 85, 291--303 (1979; Zbl 0395.46040)] showed that there is no Shilov boundary of \(A_b(c_0)\) or \(A_u(c_0)\), and \textit{R.\,M.\thinspace Aron, Y.\,S.\thinspace Choi, M.\,L.\thinspace Louren} and \textit{O.\,W.\thinspace Paques} [Contemp.\ Math.\ 144, 15--22 (1993; Zbl 0805.46032)] proved that for every \(1\leq p<\infty\), the Shilov boundary of \(A_u(l_p)\) or \(A_b(l_p)\) is the unit sphere \(S_{l_p}\) of \(l_p\), but the Shilov boundary of \(A_u(l^\infty)\) or \(A_b(l^\infty)\) does not exist. Moreover, \textit{Y.\,S.\thinspace Choi, D.\,Garcia, S.\,G.\thinspace Kim} and \textit{M.\,Maestre} [J.~Math.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 295, No.\,1, 80--96 (2004; Zbl 1059.46026)] obtained that there is no Shilov boundary of \(A_u(C(K))\) if \(K\) is a scattered and infinite compact Hausdorff space. In the paper under review, the authors study the boundaries of \(A_u(E)\) or \(A_b(E)\) for a Banach space \(E= M^0_w\) whose bidual is a Marcinkievicz sequence space \(M_w\). More precisely, they obtain sufficient conditions for a set to be a boundary of \(A_u(M^0_w)\) or \(A_b(M^0_w)\) and also show that the Shilov boundary of \(A_u(M^0_w)\) or \(A_b(M^0_w)\) does not exist. Finally, let us mention that the space \(M^0_w\) is the Gowers space \(G_p\) of characteristic \(p\) if \(w_n =\frac{1}{p+n-1}\) for all \(n \in \mathbb{N}\).
