The author gives a condition on a smooth function \(f:{\mathbb R}^m\to {\mathbb R},\) \(f(0)=0\), when for an arbitrary orientation preserving diffeomorphism \(\phi :{\mathbb R}\to {\mathbb R}\) with \(\phi (0)=0\), the function \(\phi \circ f\) is right equivalent to \(f.\) The requirement is that \(f\) belongs to its Jacobi ideal. This result is also globalized. If \(M\) is a smooth compact manifold and \(f:M\to [0,1]\) a surjective smooth function, then one can consider the two natural right and left-right actions on \(C^{\infty}(M,{\mathbb R})\) of the group of diffeomorphisms of \(M\) and the simple product of this group with the group of diffeomorphisms of \({\mathbb R}\) that have compact support and leave \([0,1]\) invariant. The author proves that if \(f\) satisfies the above-mentioned condition at each critical point and has additional mild properties, then the corresponding stabilizers of \(f\) and the corrsponding orbits are homotopy equivalent. A similar result is obtained for smooth mappings \(f:M\to S^1.\)
