Consider a Deligne--Mumford stack \(\overline{M}_{0,n}(\mathbb P^r,d)\) of stable maps of rational \(n\)-pointed curves to \(r\)-dimensional projective space whose image is of degree \(d\). The natural morphisms between such stacks are the following. Forgetful morphisms \(\overline{M}_{0,n}(\mathbb P^r,d)\to \overline{M}_{0,m}(\mathbb P^r,d)\), \(m<n\) ``forget'' \(n-m\) labeling points. The gluing morphisms \(\overline{M}_{0,n+1}(\mathbb P^r,d_1)\times\overline{M}_{0,m+1}(\mathbb P^r,d_2)\to\overline{M}_{0,m+n}(\mathbb P^r,d_1+d_2)\) glue the last marked points of two curves. Finally, evaluation morphisms \(\text{ev}_i: \overline{M}_{0,n}(\mathbb P^r,d)\to \mathbb P^r\) evaluates the curve at the \(i\)-th marked point. The main theorem of the paper states that the only system of subrings of the rational Chow rings of \(\overline{M}_{0,n}(\mathbb P^r,d)\)'s containing the classes of the type \(\text{ev}_i^*\alpha\), \(\alpha \in A^*(\mathbb P^r)\) and closed with respect to pushforwards by the gluing and forgetful morphisms is just the system of the rational Chow rings. Though this result is not very surprising, its proof is rather interesting. The author considers a particular non-generic torus action on \(\mathbb P^r\) and uses the technique of Bialynicki-Birula. The main instrument of the proof is a particular filterable Bialynicki-Birula decomposition. In the case of \(\mathbb P^r\) considered in this paper the author explicitly writes down the decomposition in the context of Gathmann--Li stacks of stable maps with prescribed contact order to a fixed hyperplane and prove that it is filterable.
