The authors analyze the qualitative properties of a predator-prey system with Holling-\((n+1)\) functional response with a fairly general growth rate. The proposed system of equations is basically a modification of the classical Lotka-Volterra model. This system is transformed into a Liénard generalized system and the proof of the non-existence of closed orbits is carried out by applying the well-known Dulac's criterion, while the uniqueness of limit cycles is proved via a standard theorem of [\textit{Z. F. Zhang}, Appl. Anal., 23, 63--76 (1986; Zbl 0595.34033)]. The proofs are quite technical in nature.
