The authors consider unidirectionally coupled systems of the type \[ {dx\over dt}= f(x(t), \gamma\times (t-\tau)),\;{dy\over dt}= f(y(t),\eta\times(t-\tau_1)), \] where \(\gamma\) represents the feedback rate of the drive system \((x(t)\in\mathbb{R}^n)\), \(\eta\) is the coupling strength, \(\tau\) is the feedback delay, \(\tau_1\) corresponds to the delay for the coupling from the drive system to the response system \((y(t)\in\mathbb{R}^n)\). Additionally it is assumed that both subsystem contain slow and fast variables. Two types of synchronization are considered numerically: isochronous synchronization \((y(t)\sim x(t-\tau_1))\) and achronal synchronization \((y(t)\sim x(t-\tau_1+ \tau))\). The model under consideration consists of Lang-Kobayashi equations for semiconductor lasers. From their numerical experiments the authors conclude that both fast and slow dynamics reflect the same important synchronization features and that it is natural to restrict the observation on the slow dynamics.
