Clavius and Viète disagreed on the cyclical rules that must be used to determine the first Full Moon after March 21, the day of the Spring Equinox. Because Easter is the first Sunday after this first Full Moon and the Gregorian calendar reform was based on Clavius' views, Viète had good reasons to attack Clavius. The author discusses the controversy.
