The theorem of Vitali that the title of this paper refers to is the following: Let \(G\) be an open connected subset of the complex plane \(C\) and let \(A\) be a subset of \(G\) which contains an accumulation point in \(G\). If \((f_n)_n\) is a locally bounded sequence of holomorphic functions on \(G\) which converges pointwise on \(A\), then there is a holomorphic function \(f\) on \(G\) such that \((f_n)_n\) converges to \(f\) for the compact open topology on \(G\). It is well known that this statement is equivalent to Montel's theorem. \textit{W. Arendt} and \textit{N. Nikolski} gave in [Math. Z. 234, No. 4, 777--805 (2000; Zbl 0976.46030)] a proof of Vitali's theorem for nets of holomorphic functions with values in Banach spaces. It is known that Montel's theorem does not hold for Banach valued holomorphic functions. The result of Arendt and Nikolski is extended in the present note in several ways: the result is valid for nets of functions which belong to a certain sheaf of smooth functions on open connected domains of \(\mathbb R^n\), the set \(A\) can be taken as a set of uniqueness for the sheaf, and the range space is any locally convex space in which the closed absolutely convex bounded subsets generate Banach spaces. This generalization permits the author to extend a result of Harnack type due to Enflo and Smithies for harmonic functions with values in the space of compact operators on a separable Hilbert space to a result for harmonic functions with values on the space of all bounded operators on a Hilbert space.
