    In this paper the author establishes \(L^p\)-boundedness (\(1<p<\infty\)) for a class of singular convolution operators on the Heisenberg group whose kernels satisfy regularity and cancellation conditions adapted to the implicit (\(n+1\))-parameter structure and which are in a natural way analogous to the product-type Calderón-Zygmund convolution kernels on \({\mathbb R}^n\) and extend results of \textit{D. Müller, F. Ricci} and \textit{E. M. Stein} [Invent. Math. 119, 199--233 (1995; Zbl 0857.43012)] for the two-parameter setting and multipliers \(m(\mathcal{L}, iT)\) of the subLaplacian and the central derivative on the Heisenberg group. Let \({\mathbb H}_n = {\mathbb C}^n \times {\mathbb R}\) denote the \((2n+1)\)-dimensional Heisenberg group. For \(z=(z_1, \dots, z_n)\) in \({\mathbb C}^n\), we let \(\|z\|^{ 2}= |z_1|^2 \cdots |z_n|^2\) and \(\|z\|^{I}=|z_{1}|^{i_1}\cdots |z_n|^{i_n}\) for a multi-index \(I=(i_1, \dots, i_n) \in ({\mathbb Z}^{+})^n\). We denote the multi-parameter dilation, given \(r=(r_1, \dots, r_n) \in ({\mathbb R}^{+})^n\), by \(\delta_r(z)=(r_1z_1, \dots, r_nz_n)\) for \(z \in {\mathbb C}^n\). We write \(z=(z_{l_{\leftarrow}},z_{l_{\rightarrow}})\) in \({\mathbb C}^n\) where \(z_{l_{\leftarrow}}=(z_{1}, \dots, z_{l}), z_{l_{\rightarrow}} =(z_{l+1}, \dots, z_{n})\) for \(1 \leq l \leq n\). A \(C_c^{\infty}\) function \(\varphi\) on \({\mathbb C}^n\) is called a normalized bump function if \(\varphi\) is supported in the unit ball, and \(\varphi\) and all first-order partial derivatives of \(\varphi\) are bounded by a fixed, predetermined constant. A distribution \(K\) on \({\mathbb H}_{n}\) will be called a near-product-type kernel if \(K\) is smooth away from the \(z_i=0\) planes, and satisfies the size condition \[ |\partial^{I}_{z}\partial^{k}_{t}K(z.t)| \leq C_{I,k}\|z\|^{-{ 2}-I}(|z|^2+|t|)^{-1-k} \] for all \(I \in ({\mathbb Z}^{+})^n, k \in {\mathbb Z}^{+}\) as well as the following cancellation conditions: for all \(l, 1 \leq l\leq n\), \[ \left|\int_{{\mathbb C}^l}\partial^{I}_{z_{l_{\rightarrow}}}\partial^{k}_{t}K(z,t) \varphi(\delta_{r}(z_{l_{\leftarrow}}))dz_{l_{\leftarrow}}\right| \leq C_{I,k}\|z_{l_{\rightarrow}}\|^{{ 2}-I}(|z_{l_{\rightarrow}}|^2 +|t|)^{-1-k}\tag{1} \] for all normalized bump functions \(\varphi\) on \({\mathbb C}^l, r \in ({\mathbb R}^+)^l, I \in ({\mathbb Z}^+)^{n-l}\) and \(k \in {\mathbb Z}^+\); \[ \left|\int_{{\mathbb C}^l}\int_{{\mathbb R}}\partial^{I}_{z_{l_{\rightarrow}}}K(z,t) \varphi(\delta_{r}(z_{l_{\leftarrow}}, t))dz_{l_{\leftarrow}}dt\right| \leq C_{I}\|z_{l_{\rightarrow}}\|^{-{ 2}-I}\tag{2} \] for all normalized bump functions \(\varphi\) on \({\mathbb C}^l \times {\mathbb R}, r \in ({\mathbb R}^+)^{l+1}\), and \(I \in ({\mathbb Z}^+)^{n-l}\); all conditions obtained from (1) and (2) by permuting the indices \(1, \dots, n\); and \[ \left|\int_{{\mathbb R}}\partial^{I}_{z}K(z,t)\varphi(rt)dt\right| \leq C_{I}\|z\|^{{ 2}-I} \] for all normalized bump functions \(\varphi\) on \({\mathbb R}, r >0\) and \(I \in ({\mathbb Z}^+)^n\). Theorem. If K is a near-product-type distribution kernel on the Heisenberg group \({\mathbb H}_{n}\), then the convolution operator \(Tf=f*K\) is bounded on \(L^p({\mathbb H}_{n})\) for \(1<p<\infty\). This result is obtained by the method of transference.
