The main purpose of the paper under review is to adapt the inversion formulae for the heat kernel transform on a compact manifold given in [\textit{F. Golse, E. Leichtmann}, and \textit{M. Stenzel}, Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 29, No. 6, 669--736 (1996; Zbl 0889.32037)] to the settings of a Riemannian symmetric space of Helgason's non-compact type. The main analytic tool involved in the proofs is the Helgason Fourier transform.
