Dimension group of a non-negative integer irreducible matrix (Q861016)

For a \(d\)-by-\(d\) nonnegative irreducible integer matrix \(A\) the cone \(C\) of all integer vectors which are mapped by a power of \(A\) into in the cone of nonnegative vectors, is considered. It is shown that under certain constraints this cone is the intersection of \(k\) halfspaces, where \(k\) is the index of cyclicity of \(A\). This result allows to characterize the dimension group generated by the matrix \(A\).
