The authors present a method to compute the singular value decomposition of an arbitrary quaternion matrix, based on transformation to bidiagonal form using quaternionic Householder transformations. They show that these transformations have two forms, dependent on whether the Householder matrix is to be applied on the left or right of the vector to be transformed. The method is applicable to matrices of real or complex quaternions and has been implemented as a part of an open-source Matlab toolbox for computing with quaternion matrices.
