      The author establishes several equivalent conditions for an algebraic lattice to be a finite Boolean algebra. These results are motivated by the investigation of ideal lattices of rings. The aim is to find natural lattice-theoretic conditions ensuring that an algebraic lattice with compact 1 is a finite Boolean algebra. For example, the following theorem is proved (Theorem 4.4). An algebraic lattice \(L\) is a finite Boolean algebra if and only if it satisfies the following five conditions: (1) \(L\) is dually semi-complemented; (2) \(L\) is 1-distributive; (3) \(L\) is 1-modular; (4) 1 is compact; (5) \(L\) satisfies the descending chain condition.
