In this paper the author considers the feedback stabilization of a linear control system in an infinite dimensional state space. However, unlike the standard feedback control problem where the goal is to find a linear feedback control law, the author extends the study to the case where the feedback may be nonlinear. Let \(H\) and \(U\) be a real Hilbert spaces, \(A\) be the infinitesimal generator of a linear \(C_0\)-semigroup of contraction on \(H\), and \(B\) be a linear bounded operator from \(U\) to \(H\). The author considers the abstract control system \[ \left\{\begin{aligned} y^{\prime}(t)&=Ay(t) + Bu(t),\\ y(0) &=y_0, \end{aligned}\right.\tag{1} \] in the situation where the feedback may be nonlinear. More precisely, the author considers the feedback \(u(t) =-f(B^\ast y(t))\) where \(f : U \to U\) is an appropriate function. Such a control law occurs for instance whenever some constraint is imposed on the control. The problem of stabilization of the system (1) in Hilbert spaces with nonlinear feedback is investigated. Based on the invariance principle of LaSalle, results relative to various nonlinearities are obtained for different dynamics. Essentially the stabilization occurs whenever the ``uncontrollable''\ states does not intersect the unstable subspace of the dynamic of the system. This fact already established in the linear context is extended to the nonlinear one. These results are obtained in a general framework enabling various applications including systems of parabolic and hyperbolic types. The results of this paper can be extended to the case where the control operator is unbounded.
