\textit{A. Weinstein}'s splitting theorem for Poisson structures [J. Differ. Geom. 18, 523--557 (1983; Zbl 0524.58011)] states that in a neighborhood of any point \(p\) of an \(n\)-dimensional Poisson manifold \((P,\Pi)\) there is a local coordinate system \[ (x_1,\dots,x_k, y_1,\dots,y_k,z_1,\dots,z_{n-2k}) \] in which the Poisson structure \(\Pi\) takes the form \[ \Pi=\sum_{r=1}^k\partial_{x_r}\wedge\partial_{y_r}+\sum_{i,j=1}^{n-2k}f_{ij}(z) \partial_{z_i}\wedge\partial_{z_j}\,, \] where the functions \(f_{ij}\) in the transverse part depend on \(z\) only and vanish at the origin. For an action of a compact Lie group \(G\) on \(P\) which preserves \(\Pi\) and fixes \(p\), the authors prove an equivariant version of this result. It says that the above splitting of coordinates into submanifolds \(\{ z=0\}\) and \(\{ x=y=0\}\) can be chosen \(G\)-invariant and the group action -- linear, provided the Poisson structure \(\Pi\) is tame at \(p\,\). The latter means that for any pair \(X_t,Y_t\) of germs of smooth Poisson vector fields near \(p\,\), which are tangent to the symplectic foliation of \(\Pi\) and which depend smoothly on a multi-parameter \(t\,\), the function \(\Pi^{-1}(X_t,Y_t)\) is smooth and depends smoothly on \(t\,\). Here, \(\Pi^{-1}\) is the covariant tensor dual to \(\Pi\) consisting of symplectic forms on symplectic leaves. As a consequence, an equivariant linearization result is obtained for Poisson structures whose transverse structure has semisimple linear part of compact type.
