Let \(E\) be a \(2n\)-dimensional real symplectic space and let \(S\) be the set of Lagrangians. \(S\) can be seen as the Shilov boundary of a domain of tube type. The Maslov index satisfies a cocycle relation. Let \(\widetilde{S}\) be the universal cover of \(S\). One searches for a primitive of this cocycle on \(\widetilde{S}\). The authors introduce an index of inertia for triples of points of \(S\) which is invariant by \(G= \text{Sp}(E)\) and has a cocycle property. To do this they studied previously the Souriau index and the Arnold-Leray-Maslov index. The Maslov index can be generalized in this context and the authors construct for \(G\) the symplectic rotation number.
