In the present article, the following problems for the \(p\)-Laplacian equation are considered \[ \begin{alignedat}{2} & u_t = \text{div }(| \nabla u| ^{p-2}\nabla u),\quad && (x,t)\in Q_T = \mathbb R^N\times (0,T),\\ & u(x,0) = u_0(x), \quad && x\in\mathbb R^N, \end{alignedat} \] and \[ \begin{alignedat}{2} & u_t = \text{div }(| \nabla u| ^{p-2}\nabla u),\quad && (x,t)\in \Omega_T = \Omega\times (0,T),\\ & u(x,t) = 0, \quad && (x,t)\in \partial\Omega\times (0,T),\\ & u(x,0) = u_0(x),\quad && x\in\Omega, \end{alignedat} \] where \(\Omega \subset\mathbb R^N\) and \(\partial\Omega \in C^{\infty}\). The authors are interested in the studying asymptotic behavior of solutions \(u_p(x,t)\) of the above problems as \(p\to\infty\). The main results read: Let \(0 \leq u_0 \in L^{\infty}\), \(| \nabla u_0| \leq 1\) in \(L^{\infty}(\mathbb R^N)\), then there exists a function \(u_{\infty}\in C(\mathbb R^N)\), \(| \nabla u_{\infty}| \leq 1\) such that for any compact set \(G\in Q_T\) \[ \lim_{p\to\infty} u_p(x,t) = u_{\infty}(x),\quad \text{uniformly on } G, \] where \(u_p\) are solutions of the Cauchy problem. In the case of the Dirichlet problem, the authors prove the following: Let \(0 \leq u_0 \in L^{\infty}\), \(| \nabla u_0| \leq 1\) in \(L^{\infty}(\mathbb R^N)\), then there exists a function \(u(x)\), \(| \nabla u(x)| \leq 1\) such that \[ \lim_{p\to\infty} u_p(x,t) = u(x),\quad \text{uniformly on } \overline\Omega\times [\tau,T] \quad \forall\tau > 0, \] where \(u_p\) are solution of the above-mentioned problem.
