Induced characters of the projective general linear group over a finite field. (Q863351)

Let \(q\) be a power of an odd prime, \(n\geq 2\) an even integer. Using a general result of Lusztig, the author determines the decomposition into irreducible complex characters of the induced characters \[ \text{Ind}_{\text{PGSp}_n(\mathbb{F}_q)}^{\text{PGL}_n(\mathbb{F}_q)}(1),\qquad \text{Ind}_{\text{PGO}^+_n(\mathbb{F}_q)}^{\text{PGL}_n(\mathbb{F}_q)}(1),\qquad \text{Ind}_{\text{PGO}^-_n(\mathbb{F}_q)}^{\text{PGL}_n(\mathbb{F}_q)}(1). \]
