A symplectic approach to van den Ban's convexity theorem (Q863700)

The authors introduce a symplectic convexity theorem which leads to van den Ban's result for complex semisimple symmetric spaces. In 1982, Atiyah and Guillemin-Sternberg proved a convexity theorem and discovered interessant relations between Lie theory and symplectic geometry. In this work, the aim is to interpret the convexity result in a symplectic spirit. The kea idea is to define a natural Hamiltonian action and to consider the orbits of a certain subgroup that are non compact and non symplectic.
