    The simplest classical Lotka-Volterra two-dimensional predator-prey system is considered with impulsive control. The control is applied in such a way that prey (pest) is reduced (by pesticide) when its quantity reaches a certain threshold level and predator (a natural enemy of the prey) is released at the same time. Conditions are given under which the system has an orbitally asymptotically stable periodic solution. Under certain conditions as the quantity of predator released is increased a period doubling bifurcation occurs. Numerical examples show that state dependent control is more effective than fixed time feedback control. It is also shown that by state dependent control the costs are lower.
