Let \(S_j(\lambda, h)\), \(\lambda> 0\), \(h\in (0,1]\), \(j= 1,2\), the scattering matrices for the pair of Hamiltonians \((H_j(h), H_0(h))\), \(j= 1,2\), where the free operator is \(H_0(h)= -h^2\Delta\) on \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)\), \(n\geq 2\), and \(H_j(h)= H_0(h)+ V_j\). The potential \(V_j\) is a real-valued smooth short-range function satisfying \(|\partial^\alpha_xV_j(x)|\leq C_\alpha(x)^{-\rho-|\alpha|}\forall\alpha\in \mathbb{N}\), where \(\rho> 1\). The author proves two things: 1. Direct scattering: if the energy \(\lambda\) is non-trapping and \((\lambda- V_1(x))= (\lambda- V_2(x))_+\), then \[ S_1(\lambda, h)= S_2(\lambda, h)+ O(h^\infty)\text{ in }B(L^2(S^{n-1}))\text{ when }h\to 0. \] 2. Inverse scattering: assume \(V_j\) regular at infinity, i.e. \(V_j\sim\sum_{k\geq 1} V_{j,k}\), where \(V_{j,k}\) are homogeneous functions of order \(-\rho_{jk}\) with \(1<\rho_{j1}< \rho_{j2}<\cdots\), \(j= 1,2\). Let \(\psi\in C^\infty_0((0,\infty))\), \(\psi= 1\) in a neighborhood of \(\lambda> 0\). For \(n\geq 3\), assume that in \(B(L^2(\mathbb{R}^n))\), \(S_1(h)\psi(H_2(h))= S_2(h)\psi(H_0(h))+ O(h^\infty)\), \(h\to 0\), where \(S_j(h)\) is the scattering operator for the pair \((H_j(h), H_0(h))\), \(j= 1,2\). Then \(V_1- V_2\in S(\mathbb{R}^n)\).
