This paper deals with existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions for the following neutral functional differential equation (NFDE): \[ (x(t)+Bx(t-\delta))''+Cx'(t)+g(x(t-\tau(t)))=p(t),\tag{1.1} \] where \(\tau,p,g\colon \mathbb{R}\to \mathbb{R}\) are continuous functions, \(B\), \(\delta\) and \(C\) are constants, \(\tau\) and \(p\) are \(T\)-periodic, \(C\not=0\), \(| B| \not=1\) and \(T>0\). The obtained sufficient conditions for this type of second-order NFDE are new compared with existing results in the literature. An illustrative example is also given.
