In the paper under review the authors consider vertex algebra analogue of classical Cartan's equivariant cohomology theory from \textit{V. Guillemin} and \textit{S. Sternberg} [Supersymmetry and equivariant de Rham theory. Berlin: Springer-Verlag (1999; Zbl 0934.55007)]. They define the chiral equivariant cohomology associated to certain differential vertex algebras. The main example of such differential vertex algebra is the chiral de Rham complex from \textit{F. Malikov, V. Schechtman} and \textit{A. Vaintrob}, Commun. Math. Phys. 204, No. 2, 439--473 (1999; Zbl 0952.14013)]. They construct vertex algebra analogues of the Mathai-Quillen isomorphism, the Weil and the Cartan models for equivariant cohomology, and the Chern-Weil map. They also consider the construction of Virasoro elements in the case of trivial differential vertex algebra.
