    The author considers the equation \[ Av=f \text{ in }H,\tag{1} \] where \(H\) is a Hilbert space and \(A\) is a selfadjoint linear operator. For a parameter \(a>0\) and \(u_0\in H\) arbitrary, he studies the Cauchy problem \[ \begin{cases} \dot u=i(A+ia)u-if,\\ u(0)=u_0.\end{cases}\tag{2} \] This problem has a unique solution \(u(t)\), for \(t\geq 0\) and \(\lim_{a\to 0}\lim_{t\to\infty}u(t,a)=y\), where \(y\) is the unique minimal norm solution of (1). If \(f_{\delta}\) are noisy data with \(\| f_{\delta}-f\| \leq \delta\), then there exist \(a_{\delta}>0\) and \(t_{\delta}=t(\delta)\) such that \(\lim_{\delta\to 0}\| u_{\delta}-y\| =0\), with \(u_{\delta}=u(t_{\delta},a_{\delta})\) and \(u_{\delta}\) is the solution of (2) with \(f_{\delta}\) instead of \(f\). In the case \(a=a(t)\) with the properties \(a(t)>0\), \(\int_0^{\infty}a(t)dt=\infty\), \(a(t)\searrow 0\) as \(t\to\infty\) and \(\int_0^{\infty}| a'+a^2| dt<\infty\), the solution \(u(t)\) of (2) verifies the condition \(\lim_{t\to\infty}\| u(t)-y\| =0\).
