The paper considers differential equations of the form \[ \ddot x+\gamma\dot x +g(x)=f(\omega t) \eqno(1) \] with \(\omega\in\mathbb R^d\), describing one-dimensional dissipative systems subject to a periodic or quasi-periodic (Diophantine) forcing. The problem under study is the existence and properties of solutions with the same quasi-periodicity as the forcing \(f(\omega t)\). For \(g(x)=x^{2p+1}\), \(p\in\mathbb N\), it is shown that when the dissipativity coefficient \(\gamma\) is large enough, there exists only one such solution and it corresponds to a global attractor. In the case of more general nonlinearities, including \(g(x)=x^2\) (describing the varactor equation), the existence of at least one such solution describing a local attractor is established. Some open problems and possible directions of further research are discussed. The paper continues investigations of the authors on equation (1) presented in \textit{G.~Gentile, M. V.~Bartucelli, J. H. B.~Deane}, J. Math. Phys. 46, No. 6, 052102 (2005; Zbl 1110.34034)].
