The authors deal with the following reaction-diffusion equation \[ -\varepsilon^2\Delta u(x)= (u(x))^2(b(x)- u(x))\quad\text{in }\Omega\tag{1} \] with Neumann boundary condition \[ \vec n(x)\cdot\nabla u(x)= {\partial u\over\partial\vec n}= 0\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega \] or Dirichlet boundary condition \(u= 0\) on \(\partial\Omega\). In (1) the function \(b(x)\) is admitted to change sign. The authors study the existence of multiple positive stable solutions for (1) with Neumann or Dirichlet boundary conditions.
