Construction of multidimensional spike-layers (Q865279)

The author deals with some recent results regarding new concentration phenomena for the following singularly perturbed elliptic problem \[ \begin{gathered} -\varepsilon^2\Delta u+ u= u^p\quad\text{in }\Omega,\\ {\partial u\over\partial\vec n}= 0\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega,\qquad u> 0\quad\text{in }\Omega,\end{gathered} \] where \(\Omega\subseteq\mathbb{R}^d\) is a smooth bounded domain, \(d\geq 2\), \(\vec n\) is the (inner) unit normal vector to \(\partial\Omega\), \(p> 1\) and \(\varepsilon\) is a small parameter. The author proves existence of solutions which concentrate at curves or manifolds in \(\overline\Omega\) when \(\varepsilon\to 0\).
