Let \(X\) be a Banach space and \(L(T)\) be the set of all linear bounded operators on \(X\). Denote by \(\mathbb T\) the unit circle in the complex plane. The following theorem is the main result of the paper. Theorem. Let \(T\in L(X)\) with \(r(T)<1\) and suppose that for some \(m\geq 2\) there exist nonzero vectors \(x\in X\) and \(x_{1}^{\ast},\dots,x_{m}^{\ast}\in X^{\ast}\) and linearly independent functions \(f_{j}\in L^{1}({\mathbb T})\) such that \(f_{j}=g_{j}/h_{j}\), where \(g_{j}\in H^{1}({\mathbb T})\) and \(h_{j}\in H^{\infty}({\mathbb T})\) for \(j=1,\dots,m\). Suppose also that \(f_{k}\prod_{j=1,j\neq k}^{m}h_{j}\not\in H^{1}({\mathbb T})\) for each \(k=1,\dots,m\). If \(\langle T^{n}x,x_{j}^{\ast} \rangle =\hat{f}_{j}(-n)\) for all \(n\geq0\) and \(j=1,\dots,m\), then \(T\) has a lattice of \(2^{m}-2\) distinct nontrivial closed invariant subspaces, which is order isomorphic to the lattice of nontrivial subsets of \(\{ 1,\dots,m\}\). Explicit formulae for the factorization mentioned above are given in the case of weighted composition operators (operators of the form \(f(s) \mapsto d(s)f(\varphi(s))\)) acting on a functional Hilbert space with a reproducing kernel. The latter result is used for constructing invariant subspaces for some class of operators on the space \(H^{2}\).
