The authors study the phase diagram of a simple branching and annihilating random walk and show that for all dimensions \(d> 2\) there is a phase transition line from an active state to an absorbing state in the \((\lambda D,\sigma/D)\) plane with the creation and annihilation rates \(\sigma\) and \(\lambda\), respectively, and the hopping rate \(D\) between adjacent sites. They use a simple single-site approximation, where diffusion steps only take place to empty sites. The authors expect this method to be applicable to other reaction-diffusion processes with absorbing state phase transitions, too.
