This paper deals with the class \(S\) of \(C^3\) interval maps \(f: I\to I\) with negative Schwarzian derivative and a finite set \(C\) of critical points. The authors investigate such mappings \(f: I\to I\), which satisfy the following two conditions: \[ \liminf_{n\to\infty}\,{1\over n} \sum^n_{i=1} \log|f'(f^i(c))|> \lambda> 0,\tag{CE} \] for every critical point \(c\in C\); \[ \lim_{\delta\to 0+}\,\liminf_{n\to\infty}\,{1\over n} \sum_{\substack{ 1\leq i\leq n\\ f^i(c)\in C_\delta}}\log d(f^i(c))= 0,\tag{SR} \] where \(d(x)= d(x,C)= \min\{|x-c|: c\in C\}\) and \(C_\delta= \{x: d(x, C)\leq \delta\}\) is a metric neighbourhood of the critical set \(C\). The main result of the paper is: If \(f\) satisfies both (CE) and (SR) then every map \(g\) topologically conjugate to \(f\) also satisfies both (CE) and (SR). To prove this result, the authors formulate a new notion -- topological slow recurrence, condition, which is invariant under topological conjugacy.
