The authors investigate linear mappings \(L: X\to Y\) which fulfill \(\mu(x)\leq \nu(L(x))\) for all \(x\in X\) where, in case \(\mu\), \(\nu\) are fuzzy subspaces of \(X\) resp.\ \(Y\), \(L\) is referred to as a \textit{fuzzy linear mapping}, in case \(\mu\), \(\nu\) are fuzzy subsets of \(X\) resp.\ \(Y\) only, \(L\) is called a \textit{pseudo-fuzzy linear mapping}. The investigations deal mainly with pseudo-fuzzy linear mappings. The authors introduce, as a characterizing value, the magnification of a pseudo-fuzzy linear mapping and discuss several properties, e.g., to the composition of pseudo-fuzzy linear mappings and to quotient vector spaces. Finally, they present a list of properties of gain relations of pseudo-fuzzy linear mappings. They illustrate such relations by a series of examples on different domains and as such from different fields of mathematics as, e.g., graph theory or probability theory.
