      The authors prove several transversality results for formal CR hypersurfaces, utilizing the nondegeneracy notion of class \(\mathcal{C}\) that they introduce in [J. Am. Math. Soc. 20, No.2, 519--572 (2007; Zbl 1112.32017)]. For instance, they prove that, when \((M,0)\) is of the class \(\mathcal{C}\), and \((M',0)\) does not contain any formal holomorphic curve, then the formal holomorphic map \(H\:(\mathbb{C}^N,0)@>>>\mathbb{C}^N,0)\) with \(H(M)\subset{M}'\) are either constant or CR transversal (i.e., the normal derivative of the normal component of \(H\) at \(0\) does not vanish). Both finite and infinite type hypersurfaces are considered in this note.
