Let \(K\) be an algebraically closed field, the main purpose of this paper consists in studying the set theoretical complete intersection property, that is about the minimal number of equations needed to describe set theoretically an algebraic set: \(\text{ara}(V)\). In general \(\text{ara}(V)\) depends on the characteristic, and it is very difficult to compute it. Let us recall that it was proven by \textit{M. Barile, M. Morales} and \textit{A. Thoma} [J. Algebra 226, No. 2, 880--892 (2000; Zbl 0971.14041)] that in characteristic \(p>0\), for almost all simplicial toric varieties \(\text{ara}(V)\) equals the codimension and in characteristic \(0\), for almost all simplicial toric varieties \(\text{ara}(V)\) is less or equal the codimension plus one. In the paper under review, the author considers special classes of simplicial toric varieties for which \(\text{ara}(V)\) equals the codimension for exactly one prime characteristic. She extends previous results of \textit{M. Barile} and \textit{G. Lyubeznik} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 133, No. 11, 3199--3209 (2005; Zbl 1077.14064)]. The paper is well exposed and clear.
