The author considers the following boundary value problem for an operator differential equation of higher even order with discontinuous coefficients: \[ (-1)^k u^{(2k)}(t)+ g(t) A^{2k} u(t)+ \sum^{2k}_{j=1} A_j(t) u^{(2k-j)}(t)= f(t),\quad t\in\mathbb{R}_+, \] \(u^{(j)}(0)= 0\) \((j= 0,1,2,\dots, k-1)\), where \(f\in L_2(\mathbb R_+, H)\), \(u\in W^{2k}_2(\mathbb R_+, H)\), \(A_j(t)\) are linear (in general, unbounded) operators, \(A\) is a self-adjoint positive definite operator in \(H\), and \(g(.)\) in a scalar piecewise constant function. Since the unknown functions are abstract valued, the derivatives are in the sense of abstract distribution functions. The author formulates sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique regular solution of the above BVP. These conditions are expressed in term of operator coefficients.
