The present paper is devoted to the analysis of a system \(A\) of equations which describe the evolution in time of the distributions of messenger RNA and protein level in a model of stochastic gene flow, introduced in [\textit{T.\,Lipniacki, P.\,Paszek, A.\,Marciniak-Czochra, A.\,R.\,Brasier} and \textit{M.\,Kimmel}, J.~Theor.\ Biol.\ 238, 348--367 (2006)]. That paper stated two hypotheses on the convergence of solutions of \(A\) to the solutions of another equation (or the system of equations), when some of the constants in \(A\) tend to infinity. The present paper presents the mathematical proof these hypotheses. The system \(A\) is regarded as a system of Kolmogorov backward equations for some Markov process, hence the convergence of solutions can be understood as the convergence (in a certain sense) of related semigroups. The proof of hypotheses is based on a version of the Trotter-Kato theorem, or, more precisely, its Sova-Kurtz version, see [\textit{S.\,N.\,Ethier} and \textit{T.\,G.\,Kurtz}, ``Markov processes. Characterization and convergence'' (Wiley Series in Probability and Mathematical Statistics) (1986; Zbl 0592.60049), p.\,28], which gives the conditions under which the limit \[ \lim_{n\to\infty} T_n(t)f \] exists for \(f\) from some subspace of a Banach space \(B\), but the range of the resolvent \(R_\lambda:=\lim_{n\to\infty}R_{\lambda,n}\) is not dense in \(B\).
