      Summary: We consider a system of the form \[ -\varepsilon^2\Delta u + a(x) u = g(v),\quad -\varepsilon^2\Delta v + a(x) v = f(u) \quad\text{in}\;\mathbb R^N,\;N ^3 \] and \(f\) and \(g\) are power-type nonlinearities having superlinear and subcritical growth at infinity. We establish that the least energy solutions to such a system concentrate at global minimum points of a as \(\varepsilon\to 0\). Our motivation for the study of such a problem goes back to the works of \textit{P. H. Rabinowitz} [Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 43, No. 2, 270--291 (1992; Zbl 0763.35087)] and \textit{Xuefang Wang} [Commun. Math. Phys. 153, No. 2, 229--244 (1993; Zbl 0795.35118)].
